Students follow the Edexcel Unendorsed GCSE. They are encouraged to experiment with a large variety of materials and techniques, developing a personal approach to a given theme.

Each unit of work should include drawing from direct observation, critical studies and imaginative development. Controlled Assessment takes place in Year 10 on Painting and in Year 11 on Viewpoints.

Homework/prep is set on an "assignment" basis, with some homework stretching over two or three weeks. Initially, prep is quite structured, being set as whole class assignments. By the end of Year 10 preps are more individual and directly linked to personal work.
