Chapel Stained Glass Restoration Fund
Will you help us to preserve the stained glass in our Chapel at Gordon’s School?
The Gordon’s School Chapel, dedicated to St Edward the Confessor, dates from 1894 and is built in memory of the Duke of Clarence, Queen Victoria’s grandson; it has recently been Grade 2 Listed. The Chapel has some beautiful stained glass which is in need of extensive restoration work, the total cost of this will be in the region of £28,000, of which £14,500 is high priority work. Grant applications have been submitted to two heritage trusts and Chapel collections during the summer term will be donated to the Chapel Glass Restoration Fund.
Carrying out the restoration of the stained glass this year provides a fitting commemoration to a long-serving and much respected member of the Gordon’s community, Reverend Denis Robinson who has worked at the school for 37 years, was appointed Assistant Chaplain in 1991 and has been Chaplain since 1994. Denis has already asked that any farewell collections are not given to him personally but to the Chapel Stained Glass Restoration Fund.
