Under-14 District 6-a-side Champions

On 25th January 2017, Gordon’s Under 14 football team competed in the annual district 6 a side tournament with 7 other local secondary schools. Gordon’s were drawn in a competitive group together with Winston Churchill School, Salesians School and St John the Baptist school.

A goal from Keaton Ainscough-Hill and two from Elliott Sleep led the boys to two 1-1 draws vs Winston Churchill and Salesians and a narrow 1-0 victory over SJB. The results saw the boy’s finish 2nd in the group, behind Winston Churchill and progressing through to the semi-finals vs Collingwood. A hard fought game was won by 2-0 Gordon’s after a close range effort from George May and a clinical finish from Elliott Sleep seeing Gordon’s through to the tournament final. The first game of the evening was repeated as Winston Churchill also progressed through to the final and the tie was won 1-0 by Gordon’s with a long range effort front George May proving too powerful for the Winston goalkeeper.

Winning the tournament was a fantastic achievement and the boys are hoping to add to their success during the rest of the season. Congratulations!
