Years 10 and 11 girls and boys athletics teams competed in the District Finals at Sheerwater Athletics Stadium on Wednesday 29th April.

The teams were brilliantly led by Alex Gooch and Megan Fidge and the tone of the day was set by James Kennett in the 1500m. What a performance, being pipped at the line on the dip. This seemed to inspire the teams in their individual performances. Most notably F. Tijani who won the shot with a new District record of 9m 97cm. Other notable performances came from Alex Gooch in the 200m, Chloe Roddy 200m, Ted Chatfield Triple Jump, Cameron Heslop Javelin, Holly Duffield Discuss and the girls 4x100m relay team. The key to success in this meeting is getting points for the team. Betty Dempster showed this by running the 1500m and ensuring the girls came second overall, just losing to Woking High by 3 points. The boys dominated and won the district cup by 8 points.

Congratulations to all athletes, the team spirit and commitment was incredible.
