On Thursday 12  February 20 of our swimmers from across years 7 to 11 met at Woking Pool for the District Inter-Schools Swimming Championships.

Teams are made up of two boys and two girls from each year group competing in all strokes as well as Medley Relays and Front Crawl Relays.

Results from all events are accumulated throughout the afternoon to give an overall final team position.

Our team was made up of a number of regular club swimmers mixed with a group of keen, fit swimmers willing to ‘have a go’.

Twelve local schools battled it out in some very close races. After a fantastic effort from all. Gordon’s picked up a piece of silverware for finishing in third place.

A fantastic effort by all involved and well done to all!

Not only were our swimmers on show in the pool but our staff were equally in the spotlight.

As part of our contribution to District Sport, it falls upon Gordon’s to organise this particular event. Without doubt the swimming gala is the most difficult and complex of District Sports to take on and deliver well.

The task was taken on by Mrs Justice. Through her professionalism, the goods were well and truly delivered. It was without doubt the best organised gala in my time at Gordon’s.

Mrs Justice was ably assisted by a team of sixth form students who proved to be a credit to themselves as well as Gordon’s School.

A thank you must also go to Mr Rob Pavis for giving up his time to present the trophies.

Once again well done to all involved!
