Second XV Rugby Success

For the second year in a row the Second XV Rugby team have been victorious in winning the Super 8 rugby competition.

For the second year in a row the Second XV Rugby team have been victorious in winning the Super 8 rugby competition.  After winning all of their league games where the team scored 277 points and conceded just 77 out of the seven games.

As the team won the league they met LVS, Ascot in the semi-final and played with great skill and enthusiasm and won 50-0.  This meant we met Halliford in the final at Gordon’s.  There has always been a friendly rivalry between the teams and Halliford wanted to make up for their loss in the previous year.

After a strong training session on the night before the team were eagerly awaiting this final and did not disappoint.  In front of a large home crowd of family and supporters Gordon’s started the game at a great pace and scored early to control any nerves.  This led to the team gaining in confidence and they kept up their skill level for the entire first half to lead 29-5.  The pace and width of the Gordon’s game meant that the Halliford pack were unable to get around the pitch for them to dominant.

Gordon’s were eventual winners 44-10 and I would like to thank all the pupils for their enthusiasm and attitude in all games and training.

I would also like to mention those pupils who were playing their last game for Gordon’s and to thank them for all their efforts and wish them all the best in their rugby careers.
