Gordon's Careers Week 16th - 20th October 2023

An event to raise the profile of the careers education, information, advice and guidance programme at Gordon's, particularly amongst the students, and seek to ensure they understand what opportunities are available to them as they progress through school and how those opportunities will support their aspirations for the future.

We are delighted to welcome speakers and alumni from industry and education and are fortunate to be supported by colleagues at ALPS, Activate Learning, Knight Frank and Golfbreaks.

The event will also see the launch of UNIFROG for every year group which is an exciting development for Gordon's. More information about the platform can be found on our partners page.

Parents of Year 10 and Year 12 students are invited to attend the following information evenings covering future options and the work experience programme planned for July 2024 and can sign up via the links below:

Year 12 Parents information evening - 17th October 2023, 6:15pm - 7pm

Year 10 Parents information evening - 19th October 2023, 6:15pm - 7pm

Gordon's Careers Week Schedule

1:1 Career Guidance Interviews for Year 10 and Year 12

All students in Years 10 and 12 benefit from personal 1:1 guidance with a qualified impartial careers adviser in order to provide support tailored to their needs and abilities. These are delivered when significant choices are being considered by students. Career conversations are an ongoing part of a student's school experience and personal guidance is an integrated part of the overall careers programme.

Careers guidance interviews are delivered by INNERVATE, an outstanding careers service provider, and every student is provided with a bespoke action plan via UNIFROG which includes recommendations for next steps and information about their chosen career path. Students can use this as the basis for further research.

The resources below can be used to support a student's preparation for interview.

Interactive Workshops in Medicine, Healthcare and Dentistry - November 2023

Gordon's School is pleased to announce that Meducators, the outstanding healthcare education company, is returning this year to run their ever popular workshops.

Conceived to boost student confidence and inspire young people to consider careers in healthcare, the team of young professionals currently working or training in the NHS are committed to supporting the next generation to consider medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy and other allied healthcare careers.

During the interactive workshops, students receive hands-on training with expert instructors covering clinical skills including surgery and suturing, heart auscultation and x-ray interpretation. Highlights of the dentistry workshops include making impressions and creating composite fillings.

These workshops are endorsed by Gordon's School as a valuable learning opportunity. Students will each receive a certificate and the experience can be used to support UCAS personal statements and applications in the future.

Book via the school box office on the links below or speak to Mrs Kennedy about bursaries: akennedy@gordons.school.

I liked when the doctors spoke about their journeys and their personal experiences. Medical school help and information was really useful.

I found looking at the X-rays most interesting. I enjoyed understanding how fractures work and also what they look like. Trying to work out which body part was shown in the X-ray was useful as it opened my horizons and what I’d like to do in my medical career.
