The Arts

Gordon’s has an outstanding reputation for music. A team of specialist staff provide tuition in piano, guitar, percussion and the full range strings, woodwind and brass instruments. There is a school orchestra, senior and junior choirs, brass band and various instrumental groups. Concerts are held off-site at the H G Wells Theatre in Woking, and are always sold out.

A unique and famous feature of Gordon’s is our fifty strong Pipes & Drums band. The Pipes and Drums reflect the ceremonial tradition of Gordon’s School which has been established for over 100 years. The Pipes and Drums play not only for our nine annual ceremonial parades, but are also in high demand for fetes and other events outside the School. The Pipes and Drums wear a form of military uniform incorporating the Gordon tartan, and the same uniform is worn by all pupils for ceremonial parades.

Drama is an integral part of the school curriculum and is a popular extra-curricular activity, along with regular theatre trips. We are fortunate to have a specialist Drama Studio with excellent lighting and sound facilities. The school has a very good reputation for its drama productions.

Recent plays have included 'Daisy Pulls It Off' and 'Cider With Rosie'. GCSE and A level students visit the theatre regularly to see a wide variety of styles of drama. Upcoming trips include 'War Horse'; 'Black Watch'; 'the Master Builder' and 'The Red Shoes'. There are several opportunities for students to perform their own practical work.
