GORDON’S SCHOOL CELEBRATES £2,500 GIFT FROM THE PATRON’S FUND

Gordon’s School is celebrating after receiving a £2,500 gift from The Patron’s Fund, the charitable fund set up to acknowledge the work of the charitable organisations for which Her Majesty The Queen acts as a Patron, on the occasion of her 90th birthday.

Around £750,000 was available to distribute between nearly 300 charities and other organisations in the UK and the Commonwealth. The Fund received generous donations from a range of supporters; including individual donors, businesses, schools, community groups and the proceeds from The Patron’s Lunch, the event on the Mall last June.

The £2,500 gift will be used to purchase the ‘Patron’s Sword of Honour’, which will be presented to the best student member of the Gordon’s CCF at the school’s annual Patron’s Birthday Parade every June. The sword itself will be kept on display at the school and each recipient will be given a replica to keep.

Head Teacher, Mr Andrew Moss said: “We are delighted and proud to have The Queen as our Patron. A group of twenty representatives of the Gordon’s community, including students, parents, staff and governors, attended the Patron’s Lunch and enjoyed the splendid picnic and parades, despite the rain! We are thrilled to have received the £2,500 gift from The Patron’s Fund and look forward to having the sword on display here at Gordon’s School.”

Sir Stuart Etherington, Chair of The Board of Trustees for The Patron’s Fund, said: “The Patron’s Fund is very pleased to be able to support Gordon’s School, one of the hundreds of organisations for which The Queen acts as a Patron and which between them make a difference to causes and communities in the UK and throughout the Commonwealth.”
