Festival of Chinese Arts 2017

Every year, we host the Festival of Chinese Arts with Year 6 pupils from Holy Trinity coming in to share in the fun

This year’s Festival of Chinese Arts saw the Year 6 Holy Trinity pupils join us for the day on Tuesday 13th June. It was a beautifully warm summer’s day so the pupils arrived in good spirits. They were split into 4 groups and started off on their rotation of activities. These included making Chinese dragons in Art, learning some basic Mandarin in Languages, cooking Chinese spring rolls in Food Technology and making Chinese instruments in Music. All sessions were ably supported by Year 8, 9 and 10 Gordons pupils. Mid-way through the day the pupils were treated to a delicious Chinese feast for lunch, and at the end of the day they watched some Gordon’s pupils perform a traditional Lion Dance under the tuition of the Chinese Association of Woking.

A great day was had by all. Special thanks must go to Mr Depoix, Miss Antolik, Miss Nunes and Mrs Maclean, and their Gordon’s helpers, for running the sessions, and Miss Moore and Miss Jackson, from the Drama department, for helping with the Lion Dance.
