Aneke Spacie Food Tech Masterclass

Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition students were fortunate to have a visiting chef on Tuesday. Aneke Spacie who owns the local Waters Edge Café on Heather Farm Horsell Common has begun working with the department on a number of projects. The first of which is to prepare the students for their upcoming food preparation exam.

Aneke prepared an entrée and pudding for the students and will return after half term to produce the main.

On the menu:

  • Spiced masala pumpkin cream soup and flatbreads
  • Beetroot and goats cheese ravioli with beetroot ketchup and goats cheese cream
  • Apple crumble with elderflower gel and miniature toffee apples

The highest of praise was when one of the students said at the end of the lesson: “Aneke makes me want to be a chef”.

Aneke is hugely passionate about local food, the environmental impact and nutrition education and has definitely inspired our students. Aneke is working with the Friends of Gordon’s on Saturday the 18th March to present a chocolate workshop. More information to follow.
