On Saturday morning the year 8/9 rugby teams from the four girls houses met on the back field to play in the first ever full contact sevens tournament. Over 40 girls attended and played some excellent rugby. The passing and running skills were excellent and the tackling was outstanding. After six keenly contested games the results were:
1st AUGUSTA
2nd CHINA
3rd KENSINGTON
4th WINDSOR
We were very lucky to have two England Ladies Rugby Union Internationals attend the morning and watch the girls play. Alex and Fran Matthews were very impressed with the effort levels and the standard of rugby played. They gave out the prizes at the end of the tournament. The player of the Tournament was awarded to Megan Grobbler for her effort, skill and sporting play. The girls in all teams were awarded a certificate. The winning team were given a certificate, medal and the Champions Shield. Photographs are available in the House Folders - Inter House Girls Rugby 2012.
I would like to thank Jake Duffield and Ben Dunkerley who refereed the games, James Kennett, Murray Syme and Oli Campbell who were linesman. Dan welch was the scorer and runner. Miss.Wahanui was very helpful in setting up the event and a huge thanks to Mr.Downey and Mr.Campbell for all their help in the tournament and training the girls this term.
