On Wednesday the 12th November, the Gordon’s First Netball team travelled away to play Royal Albert and Alexander in the annual Duchess of Gloucester Cup match.

It was a very consistent team performance with all girls playing a high standard of netball throughout the match.
In defence the girls used their height to great advantage, showing great balance and strength. Their impressive blocking, strong man to man marking and some great interceptions made within the circle, created valuable turnovers which converted to many goal scoring opportunities for Gordon's.

When in possession, Gordon's passing and ability to outwit opponents with speed and agility, proved too much for the Alexander and Albert players. The support play in backing up at the attacking goal third line made an impact in retaining possession. This pressure converted to well earned goals.

Both of our shooters were under enormous pressure in the circle, playing against very tall and athletic defence, however they didn’t let the pressure get to them with excellent timing and an impressive 80% shooting accuracy. Individual congratulations must go to Saskia Gonnisson GS, player of the match, as voted by Royal Alexander and Albert players.

The final score was 27-11 enabling Gordon's to retain the Duchess of Gloucester Cup. Congratulations to all the players, who were: GK Funlola Tijani, Megan Horsnell, GD Clarissa O’Neil, WD Megan Fidge, Jess Tilman, C Tilly Keist (Captain), WA Chloe Roddy, GA Ellie Young, GS Saskia Gonnisson.
