<p>As part of our ongoing Insight Programme, David Tinney will be sharing his ‘tips for success’ with Year 10, Year 11 and 6th Form students in the Rec on Thursday 26th January 2012.</p>
<p>David is Head of Broadcast Services Projects at BSkyB. He is a Qualified Electronics Engineer and Fellow of the CIPD. He was Managing Director of an electronics manufacturing company for twelve years and is the author of The Advanced Power State, a book ‘designed to make you successful in life‘. David also teaches and coaches management and leadership.</p>

<p>Using a golf pencil sharpened on a cell wall, Shaun Attwood wrote a prison blog which was first published in The Guardian.</p>
<p>After taking his business degree to Phoenix, Arizona he quickly became a millionaire stockbroker. However he led a double life, and he headed an organisation which threw raves and distributed club drugs. In 2002 Shaun was arrested as a SWAT team knocked his door down.</p>
<p>Shaun spent 6 of his sentenced 9 years in prison and was released in 2007 and he now tells his story about life in a US prison, as well as his involvement in drugs and crime.</p>

<p>Andy Green is the current holder of the World Land speed record, and the first person to break the sound barrier on land.<br />
On 25 September 1997 in Thrust SSC he beat the previous record in Black Rock Desert, USA, reaching a speed of 714.144mph. On October 15, 1997, exactly 50years and 1 day after the sound barrier was broken in aerial flight, Andy Green reached 763.035mph, the first supersonic record.<br />
As well as holding this record, he is also a member of the Royal Air Force as a pilot and he gained an OBE in the New Year’s Honours in 1997.<br />

<p>A recently retired hospital Consultant Surgeon, studied dentistry at Liverpool University and, after a few years in general dental practice followed by a hospital appointment, decided to specialise in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery which also required a full medical degree.<br />

<p>Dr Watson is the admissions tutor at St John’s College, Cambridge and she will coming to Gordon’s School to talk about the admissions process for Cambridge University.<br />
She will be explaining the application process in detail for Oxbridge, as well as the current issues regarding higher education.<br />
